Built to Be Wild with Peter Fonda

When creating their Super Bowl spot with Peter Fonda and the Coen Brothers, Mercedes-Benz wanted to make a documentary piece showcasing Peter’s lifelong affinity for Mercedes-Benz.

The challenge was to showcase Peter Fonda's lifelong affinity for the brand through an interview and some old photos from his personal collection, while also capturing behind-the-scenes footage of the commercial shoot. We knew that we had to approach this project with a delicate balance between honoring Peter's legacy and promoting the brand, which required a lot of attention to detail and planning.

We had to work with the commercial teamto be mindful of not interfering with the commercial production while capturing the footage that would be used for the documentary. This required a lot of coordination with the production team and the client, to ensure that everyone was on the same page and that we were getting the shots we needed. Additionally, interviewing Peter Fonda was an incredible opportunity, but also required a lot of preparation and sensitivity, as we wanted to make sure we were telling his story in a way that he would be proud of.

In the end, we were able to create a documentary piece that truly captured the essence of Peter Fonda's relationship with Mercedes-Benz and conveyed the brand's dedication to quality and innovation, and on top of that, the Super Bowl spot was a huge success!
